Christmas is already coming. Lights of various colors flicker from night up to the breaking of the dawn, decors are placed where it is best seen and very much appreciated by the onlookers. Christmas trees of towering heights are already assembled and creatively designed with ribbons, lights, Christmas balls of different size and colors, and other fun art shapes that add attractiveness to the tree. You can feel the breeze gently touching your delicate face and the cold weather that invites you to drink a cup of coffee, tea or hot chocolate. And oh! The gifts, the present that you’ve been wishing and praying for might be given to you. Well, CHRISTMAS is quoted as the day of giving, though, anytime you can give.
This reminds me of the kids we’ve been handling in our small group. We gave them a small piece of paper for them to write their top three wishes. Since they were kids, I thought, they’ll wish for something probably toys, pretty dress, shoes, the typical material-wish-list of a kid. But, it was more than that. Though they were given the opportunity to write THREE, some of them wrote only one. And I was amazed with their wish list. What they want for Christmas is not more on toys, dress, or shoes but of the completeness of their family this important time of the year. What these lovely little girls want is the happiness they could get that they can cherish for a lifetime. Moreover, when asked if they want to become a blessing to someone, they boldly said YES. These girls are not that well-off, but in their own simple and little ways they wanted to give and share their blessings. They wanted to give a smile and love to everyone who needs it. These girls might be little but I can say their HEART IS AS BIG AS THE LOVE YOU HAVE FOR A LOVED ONE.
It is not an obligation to give but I believe an opportunity to share what you have. It does not matter if you can give extravagantly or not, but what matters is, if you give it cheerfully for “EACH MAN SHOULD GIVE WHAT HE HAS DECIDED IN HIS HEART TO GIVE, NOT RELUCTANTLY OR UNDER COMPLUSION, FOR GOD LOVES A CHEERFUL GIVER (2 Corinthians 9:7).” When you give, give it out of love. SPREAD THE GIFT OF LOVE. GOD blesses your good heart.
