I departed in the dark abyss by GOD’s grace; I was blessed that I came to enjoy a journey called life. I tend to go on an adventure wherein as I exist on this journey, the pieces of the puzzle are being placed on the right position and the hues all the more are becoming vibrant. Hmm, please allow me to compare my journey on riding a jeepney (a public transportation used by Filipinos). I tend to ride a jeepney and valiantly entrust my life to the driver. It is risky and my life is on peril. But to be able to go to my destination I need to take this ride and face the cost. So upon riding the jeepney, you need to pay the price that depends on how far you will go and upon reaching your destination you just need to pull the string to stop or just verbally state: “Para po sa tabi (in low and gentle tone of voice).”
This whole picture encompasses a relationship with the Lord, for I am his passenger. My life was never put into danger, for I am entrusting my life to the Lord. He is in charge of the wheel of my life. When he takes me to a straight path, I get to enjoy my journey simple and safe. When he takes me to a rocky road, it is because he is molding my character, he is letting me understand that life is not storm free but with him it is storm-proof. When he takes me to a zigzag road, he lets me see the picture of each sides of life. When he takes me to a slope, he lets me feel that life is not always being on a cloud nine but rather on an up and down motion wherein he teaches me to humble down myself. When he takes me to a detour, it is because I am losing my track and he is leading me to the right path. When he stops, he wanted me to reflect on what I’ve learned so far with my journey, then he start to step on the gas again telling me it’s time to go on with the journey, back to the road trip. When he makes U-turn, he is reminding me that I need to go back from the basic and never forget the fact that it is my foundation, it is who I am. And when he made a left or right turn, it only means, it is the right path I have to take. But one thing for sure, he never over-speed, for he wants me to see and enjoy the sight of life’s accessories. He is painting my life with hues that is apt while we are on journey. He is taking it nice and slow wherein he lets me engaged on with my co-passenger. For in the jeepney, different walks of life are in there sharing their journey as well to other passengers. He is letting us live, laugh and love while riding GOD’s “jeepney”.
But this ride will never be forever on earth. When it is my time to go down for I have reached my destination, he never let me pay the price. For he said, I already paid the price. Your seat there, which you have seated for long time was been saved long time ago. And by the time that he will stop by to where you are standing, he will ask you again if you want to take his ride. By that time, it will be forever and no more road signs. (FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD THAT HE GAVE HIS ONE AND ONLY SON, THAT WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM SHALL NOT PERISH BUT HAVE ETERNAL LIFE. JOHN 3:16).
Whatever road trips you are taking right now, be sure that God is seated in the driver’s seat. Whatever road signs you are currently taking, be sure that God leads the way (For it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose Philippians 2:13). When you run out of gas, be sure to check your heart if God still controls the wheel of your life, if not, repent on your shortcomings and humble down yourself, accept and love God with all your heart, soul, and mind. Surrender your life to him. Again, by the time he stop by and ask you to take his ride, be his passenger and your journey will be from generation to generations for he works full time, no day-offs because he had loved you first before you took his ride.
“You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit – fruit that will last” John 15:16.
